Paul A. Garcia, M.D.
Director of Clinical Epilepsy Services


     Dr. Paul Garcia is a nationally recognized neurologist in the treatment of epilepsy and director of Clinical Epilepsy Services at UCSF Medical Center. His expertise covers a wide range of conditions and therapies, with a particular interest in surgical approaches to the treatment of epilepsy, advances in diagnosis and treatment of frontal lobe epilepsy and epilepsy in patients with brain tumors. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and on the board of directors of the Western EEG Society.

     Garcia earned an undergraduate degree with high honors at the University of California, Davis in physiology and a medical degree at UCSF, where he also completed residency and subspecialty training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. He joined the staff of UCSF Medical Center in 1991 and is an associate clinical professor of neurology. Garcia has served as an ad hoc reviewer for several professional publications, including the Annals of Neurology and the Journal of Neurology, and has published numerous research articles.
