Nicholas Barbaro, M.D.
Co-Director of the Functional Neurosurgery Program


     Dr. Nicholas M. Barbaro is a neurosurgeon and co-director of the Functional Neurosurgery Program for epilepsy, movement disorders, pain and nerve injury. He is recognized internationally for his work in surgery as a treatment for epilepsy. He also is director of the Central Nervous System Infections and AIDS Program. Dr. Barbaro is involved in many basic research projects in the fields of epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and non-invasive radiosurgery. He has lectured widely about epilepsy, movement disorders, surgical management of pain, and surgical management of peripheral nerve disorders throughout the United States and in Canada and Europe. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
